Tom durrrr Dwan Facing Patrick Antonius in Full Tilt Poker Challenge

Filed under: Gambling, poker, poker news — June 24, 2009 @ 6:40 pm

FullTilt has recently unveiled an innovative informative section containing all the details of the “Durrrr Challenge”, an incredible online heads up poker tournament presenting some of the best big money online players competing against the poker sensation Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

The brand new site offers poker players and followers the opportunity to monitor this historical durrrr challenge and receive timely challenge details. With this new “durrrr Challenge” site fans can view all the poker action and review each hand played during the poker challenge, and look at tons of statistics, including number of hands played, time of session, cash won, average won during each hand and much more.

Around six months ago, the 23 year old online poker star issued a heads-up poker challenge open to any poker player with the money, time and ability to accept it. Any player entering the poker challenge has to put up $500,000 against Dwan’s $1.5 million. Tom’s challenge specifies that at least 50,000 online poker hands need to be played at the same time at 4 or more tables of no-limit Hold’em or pot-limit Omaha. At the end of the heads up challenge, the player who has more money will secure the pool. Basically if you enter the poker challenge and win $1 after the 50,000 hands, then you will secure Tom’s $1.5 Million, but if he triumphs by $1 then he will take home your $500,000.

Thus far, a number of poker players have consented to play the “durrrr challenge”, including seven-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, yet, only Patrick Antonius has accepted the challenge. At this point, both poker players have engaged in a total of 20,647 hands out of 50,000, with Tom up by $726,546 total.

New Encore Sin City Hotel and Nightclub to Unveil

Filed under: Las Vegas, las vegas hotel casinos, vegas — December 23, 2008 @ 2:27 am

vegas wynn
Las Vegas, Nevada hotel tycoon Steve Wynn certainly has a reason to be excited about this Christmas time. With an investment of around $2.3 billion, the spectacular casino-hotel called Encore will inaugurate this coming week.

This posh casino and hotel is joined to the very fashionable Wynn Vegas on the Vegas Strip. Whereas many Sin City hotel investors are trying their hardest to find a direction to keep their hotel-casinos afloat, Wynn is doing pretty well with his billion dollar hotel investments.

The 2000 room hotel-casino is a masterpiece in itself. The main focus of this tower will be the nightclub, dubbed XS. Steve has seen in the recent past that nightclubs are hotspots in LV, and not primarily the casinos as they were in the past. He says that Las Vegas nightclubs usually generate more hard cash and are a huge draw for the young and hip group.

Wynn has also created a luxurious eatery adjacent to the XS nightclub. Inspired by the popular Colombian artist, Fernando Botero this circular steakhouse has a gigantic Botero sculpture as the main focus point. Eventhough it is not as spectacular as the nightclub which it is adjacent to; the Botero steakhouse is thought to go fairly well with the flashy LV nightclub.
The design behind XS and Botero is a sort of St. Tropez atmosphere, where the party chugs along without a break and the majority of the partying occurs near a swimming pool or ocean area. Things are not the same in Las Vegas, Nevada, where most people fancy social gatherings to slot machines nowadays.

Robbie Knievel will Jump Mirage Casino’s Resurrected Volcano

Filed under: Las Vegas, sin city, vegas hotels — December 19, 2008 @ 2:44 am

mirage
With just about one year of resting, the Mirage Hotel-Casino’s famed volcano will be resurrected bigger and more amazing than it has ever been. The famous Las Vegas casino and hotel is doing their best to draw as many tourists as they can to check out their reconstruction.

This upcoming New Year’s Eve, the daredevil Robbie Knievel will attempt a motorbike jump over the Mirage Hotel-Casino’s synthetic volcano. This jump will mark the end of a three-year restoration of the LV hotel. Throughout this period, the Las Vegas hotel-casino has spent about $110 million improving their accommodations and suites.

This New Year’s Eve act is said to be Knievel’s final feat in the United States. The presentation will last for five mins. and include explosives and a modern soundtrack. The music for the soundtrack has been composed by Mickey Hart formerly of the Grateful Dead. Robbie Knievel is the son of the late Evil Knievel-the first and most recognized daredevils.

The LV Mirage was constructed in 1989 by Vegas magnate Steve Wynn and was considered LV’s 1st megaresort. This upgrade is one of a big group on the Las Vegas, Nevada Strip in the past year. The hotel-casino desires that this presentation will pull a massive number of sightseers to the Sin City casino-hotel. The thought behind the upgrade is to beat other iconic Sin City hotel-casinos like the Bellagio casino-hotel.

De La Hoya v. Pacquiao in Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena

Filed under: Las Vegas, vegas, vegas boxing — December 1, 2008 @ 11:41 pm

de la hoya vs mayweather
The LV event many boxing followers have been waiting patiently to see is coming very soon. The Golden Boy will box one of the world’s existing best fighters, Pacquiao. This contest is planned for the 6th of December in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Undoubtedly there has been many conversations held in Las Vegas about this contest. De La Hoya has trimmed his weight down to 147 lbs. to participate as a welterweight, and some folks say that Oscar “Golden Boy” De La Hoya may not be as stout since the weight reduction. Manny has in the past boxed once as a lightweight and wishes to fight in the welterweight group. Pacquiao is also the current lightweight category champ , and is deemed by many boxing pros to be the best boxer at the moment.

This is The Golden Boy’s first trip back to LV for a fight ever since he battled Floyd Mayweather Jr. back in May of 2007. This match is no doubt a sell-out for the MGM Grand Sin City. Sightseers to Sin City have fallen recent times, but Vegas events like this boxing match seem to have a way of bringing folks to Vegas.

This fight will surely be one that most people will find quite entertaining as it matches up the two most skilled fighters of the last few decades in a 12 round welterweight match. The Golden Boy and Manny Pacquiao tickets are still available for purchase. If you were to attend only one Las Vegas, Nevada event in 2008, this is without question the event to see.

C.E.S. Las Vegas Fanatics Surprised by Hard to Believe Hotel Room Prices

Filed under: Las Vegas, sin city, vegas — November 21, 2008 @ 9:35 pm

c.e.s. las vegas
Guests of next year’s C.E.S. Vegas may be in for a big shock. Typically, approximately at this time it is nearly impossible to locate a vacant Vegas hotel resort anywhere close to Sin City, but the upcoming C.E.S. Las Vegas is proving to be a whole different ballgame. A large part of the biggest hotels and resorts on the Las Vegas Strip have amazingly reduced their prices ,some as much as 20%.

Virtually 100,000 travelers overtake Las Vegas every year to take a look at the advanced gadgets displayed by the C.E.A.. The Las Vegas, Nevada event is presented from Jan. 8-11 with the greater part of the events taking place in the Venetian Resort and Hotel and the Sands Las Vegas. This proves to be a time period when stumbling on a suitable room price turns out to be virtually a ridiculous undertaking.

The Consumer Electronics Association revealed some time back that a lot of the LV Strip resort hotels have cut their nightly rates, some of them by quite a large percentage. If you have already made your reservation, it might be a good idea to recheck prices on Sin City rooms. One of the best deals is: the Tropicana hotel casino has reduced their per night room by nearly 17%. The larger part of the LV hotel and casinos that are open next to the C.E.S., have started providing unique C.E.S. rates to the fans of the Las Vegas event.

Various analysts say that this decrease in Sin City hotel and casino prices is because of the fact that a lot of the electronics corporations have had to decrease the number of workers they are sending to the event. This compels the Las Vegas hotel and casinos to decrease their prices to invite more vacationers to their hotel resorts for the duration of this show. Other experts advise that it is caused by the current absence of sightseers to Sin City in comparison to the past few years.

Two points of view of Vegas

Filed under: Las Vegas, sin city, vegas — November 12, 2008 @ 5:10 pm

sin city restaurants
Las Vegas, Nevada has many paradoxes recently. For the standard Vegas vacationer, their hard cash can last lots longer than before. On the other hand for the Vegas local, these days are somewhat more tricky.

The Sin City visitors will be incredibly delighted with the reduced costs of Las Vegas hotel rooms, even on the Las Vegas Strip. Not to mention the number of inexpensive Vegas show tickets, Las Vegas, Nevada coupons, and even Las Vegas food credits. Right now is definitely a prime time to go to Las Vegas for the budget visitor. Certainly the economic crisis does have an affect on some features of Las Vegas for the vacationers. For example, various performances are required to shut down or hunt for new theaters. “Stomp Out Loud” is the most clear case of this variation, they are exiting out of the Planet Hollywood resort and casino spot in January of next year.

To see of how the nation’s financial condition is affecting the Vegas residents, you only need to look at the same Vegas casinos, Las Vegas casino hotels, and Vegas eateries that give these bargain costs and Las Vegas, Nevada coupons. In recent months Las Vegas has noticed the total number of sightseers descend, which in turn negatively affects the regular attendant, bellboy, or casino worker. The majority of the key Sin City Strip hotels have been required to lay off staff due to this situation.

If there is something good of this condition; the expectation is very encouraging for Vegas tourists. You certainly able to come across some inconceivable Las Vegas, Nevada deals, and with the price of fuel plummeting these are terrific days to check out Vegas.

“BeLIEve” kicks off in Luxor Hotel Casino in Las Vegas

Filed under: Las Vegas, sin city, vegas — November 5, 2008 @ 8:39 pm

criss angel
One may assume that a dramatic blend of Criss Angel in the company of Cirque du Soleil could be a merger created in heaven, or in in the case of Angel, hell.

If you had the opportunity to be one of the many fanatics who have attended this latest LV event, called Criss Angel BeLIEve featured at the Luxor Hotel, then you may have a unique attitude about this innovative production. This brand new Las Vegas idea is essentially Cirque du Soleil’s sixth show to exhibit on the Las Vegas, Nevada Strip.

The production commences rather comparable to Criss Angel’s routine magic performances, with a touch of “Cirque”. Then unexpectedly a botched illusion stunt transports Criss Angel into a Wizard of Oz-like dreamland. There are even weird rabbits hurrying all over the theater, together with Angel’s usual magic tricks and illusions bonded with Cirque du Soleil’s vivd appeal. The event climaxes with the illusionist more or less shredding himself in half, in all probability the focal point of this production.

One of the concerns, that many enthusiasts have encountered with the event, is the point that the illusionist has frequent spoken pieces in the show. Angel’s acting skills aren’t in reality his area, and this is not usual in any of Cirque du Soleil’s other popular Las Vegas presentations.

All is not lost, though, in this mix of Criss Angel and Cirque. You will see many fabulous feats highlighted in the performance, and mixed with Cirque’s outstanding ability, the show does have its memorable and magnificent moments. The ticket sales do not lie, as this presentation is looking to be one of largest shows that Cirque has had in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cirque du Soleil which was created in Montreal, Canada combines this innovative proposal to their program of Vegas performances. Cirque du Soleil’s other performances include: “O” at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino Vegas, Zumanity at the Zumanity Theater inside the New York-New York hotel and casino, LOVE at The Mirage Casino Hotel, Ka at the Ka Theater inside the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, and Mystere at the Treasure Island Hotel Casino.

A few tips to find the best Vegas room and flight offers

Filed under: Las Vegas, vegas, vegas hotels — October 22, 2008 @ 2:19 am

vegas hotels
Even if you are not the biggest fan of Sin City casinos, neon lights, and all night parties, Las Vegas, Nevada can be a great weekend break away from your hectic schedule if you make reservations in advance and do some searching. One good tip is to have a clear idea of what you want to see, how long you will stay in Las Vegas, Nevada, and which hotel you are going to stay at. As long as you have a clear picture of these questions, then your trip to Las Vegas will undeniably be one to remember.

When it comes to choosing a flight, this may take up most of your time to find the cheapest flight. Many airline companies are cutting back flights, due in part to the financial and fuel situation in the United States. Some good advice to consider is to compare travel packages from some different companies; one example of these kinds of packages could be hotel + flight + car rental for a set price. You may find in some cases that it is more economical to pay for these separately. The price difference you may find could be major.

One tip that you may find useful is to sign up for e-mail alerts from the Sin City hotels and airlines you are interested in. You will receive an e-mail when their best deals are available somewhere around two months in advance. A good tip is to make sure that if you have already booked a Sin City hotel room, keep checking the prices that they are publishing until the day of your hotel stay. The rates could change so if you see a rate less expensive than the one you reserved, talk to the hotel about giving a discount.

Don’t forget that the amount of visitors in Las Vegas is down at the moment, so the hotels and flights to Vegas are looking to attract your business. This could be a prime moment to book a flight to Las Vegas.
