Tom durrrr Dwan Facing Patrick Antonius in Full Tilt Poker Challenge

Filed under: Gambling, poker, poker news — admin June 24, 2009 @ 6:40 pm

FullTilt has recently unveiled an innovative informative section containing all the details of the “Durrrr Challenge”, an incredible online heads up poker tournament presenting some of the best big money online players competing against the poker sensation Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

The brand new site offers poker players and followers the opportunity to monitor this historical durrrr challenge and receive timely challenge details. With this new “durrrr Challenge” site fans can view all the poker action and review each hand played during the poker challenge, and look at tons of statistics, including number of hands played, time of session, cash won, average won during each hand and much more.

Around six months ago, the 23 year old online poker star issued a heads-up poker challenge open to any poker player with the money, time and ability to accept it. Any player entering the poker challenge has to put up $500,000 against Dwan’s $1.5 million. Tom’s challenge specifies that at least 50,000 online poker hands need to be played at the same time at 4 or more tables of no-limit Hold’em or pot-limit Omaha. At the end of the heads up challenge, the player who has more money will secure the pool. Basically if you enter the poker challenge and win $1 after the 50,000 hands, then you will secure Tom’s $1.5 Million, but if he triumphs by $1 then he will take home your $500,000.

Thus far, a number of poker players have consented to play the “durrrr challenge”, including seven-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, yet, only Patrick Antonius has accepted the challenge. At this point, both poker players have engaged in a total of 20,647 hands out of 50,000, with Tom up by $726,546 total.

Vegas Gamblers are trying to find the best deals in Vegas

vegas
Despite the fact that all the popular casinos are doing all they can to attract more Las Vegas tourists this year with discounts and vouchers, their slot machine business is on the decline. And while Vegas slot machine business creates about two thirds of the state’s income, it’s not such great news for the Sin City casinos.

According to the Gaming Control Board, bettors wagered $1.1 billion less in slot machines compared to last year. Slot machines on The Las Vegas Strip are down half a billion dollars. This represents a drop of 12% compared to last year. With drivers paying more than $4 per gallon for gas, gamblers are really having to count their pennies nowadays. On the other hand with the cost of gas dropping, these figures may change in the near future.

Vegas hotel casinos aren’t really bothered about this plunge in slot machine profits, the latest reports show that table game play is actually increasing. On The Strip the volume for Sin City table games is up 5 percent, with baccarat play up 15 percent and blackjack on the rise at 7 percent. Even though this may seem like a good thing, the truth is that Las Vegas casinos won 21 percent less in July due in some part to some lucky Las Vegas gamblers as well as gamblers winning a larger percentage than normal.

The famous saying, “The house always wins”, could be a thing of the past. But as these reports tell us, Sin City casinos are having a harder time making a profit than in the past. This may be a prime time for Las Vegas gamblers to start using their Las Vegas vouchers, taking advantage of rebates, and using their frequent flyer miles. With the Las Vegas, Nevada hotel casinos having a run of bad luck, this could be the most convenient occasion for you to hit the Vegas casinos.

Filed under: Gambling, Las Vegas — admin September 11, 2008 @ 1:38 pm

The game of poker in the past was a game available only in hotels in Las Vegas or from video poker machines, but now it is more in style than ever in Las Vegas, Nevada thanks to the TV and the internet.

The famous Venetian, is now banking on this new found popularity with its new audience-participation show called “The Real Deal!” in its showroom located in the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino, starting in October.

The new game show will merge comedy and game show elements to entertain its live audience. The audience will also be able to participate in the well loved game of Texas Holdem’ alongside the world’s best poker players. The show has many prizes for the audience including a chance to win 1$ million.

In “The Real Deal!” the audience will play with players like Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu. Around 10 of the World’s most famous poker players have already signed up for the game show about poker. The audience will be able to play along with the 90 minute game thanks to handheld, wireless, touch screen devices located on each seat.

“People who visit Las Vegas want to play poker games,” Negreanu says, “but obviously they can’t play in a big game with the people like Doyle or Phil Hellmuth. But, in this show, they actually can.” At the beginning of each show, six audience members will be chosen to sit at the poker table on stage with two pros. Each audience member is then involved in the action by being dealt a unique set of poker cards on their devices. Everyone in the showroom is then involved in the action with big-screen monitors located on stage.

The show’s creators say that you don’t have to be a professional poker player to join in the poker game. There are other ways to enhance your point total, that doesn’t involve playing poker necessarily. Betting on the suit of the next poker card or trying to guess which state a particular audience member is from, are just some of the ways to come out a big winner in this game.

The show’s creators are also placing bets on the personalities of the pro poker stars to create some great moments. Poker players like Scotty Nguyen, the flamboyant five-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, definitely can keep an audience entertained and should provide some memorable moments in this revolutionary poker game show .

Acropolis Online Casino Goes up for Sale

With a database of nearly 24,000 non-US-based cash players, Acropolis Online Casino has set the standard for many years for the highest level of what online casinos could accomplish.  But with the new world of entertainment on the Internet, there is more and more emphasis on streamlining the operations of companies such as online casino operations corporations that are so swamped with massive amounts of incoming data and information involving all of these types of ongoing concerns.  With the world-famous website sale, the precedent has been set for the exchange of extraordinarily valuable software products in the United States and outside it as well.  Selling the Acropolis online casino website for $500,000 will certainly set more precedents, including the size of the sale itself.  While considered to be extremely lucrative for any buyer that steps into the breach, the $500,000 price tag is considered to be extremely cheap and priced to sell rapidly.  Considering that the venerable website brings a tremendous amount of cash and would do even better with some strong promotional and advertising efforts, it is easy to see that there will be a strong demand for and competition between entrepreneurs for the chance to purchase the venerable online casino.

With all the focus on one of the oldest online casinos on the Internet and its possible future sale, there are many other online casino establishments that are concerned about their own potential futures on the Internet, as it becomes more and more difficult to generate income from the United States player base, a large portion of the revenue that is seen in these types of poker rooms and casinos on the Internet.  In fact, every type of gaming and gambling establishment has been heavily affected by the laws that have recently been passed in the United States, nearly legislating these types of casinos and gambling establishments off the Internet altogether.  This is largely considered to be to blame for the downfall of the extremely popular poker rooms and casinos in recent years.  Considering the success that these types of gaming and gambling institutions have received in the past, it does seem somewhat strange to see such a downturn in the economy and reversal of fortune that has affected so many of these different types of online casinos that depend on a tremendous amount of incoming revenue to remain solvent.
