With the incredibly rapid growth that Las Vegas has experienced over the decades, it would seem that there would be no end to the amount of revenue that can be generated by the gaming and gambling capital in the desert. But with any city there is a limit to the growth that can be sustained, and Las Vegas is very close to coming up against this limit. With the tremendous focus on Las Vegas as the gaming and gambling paradise for visitors around the world, it depends on a consistent level of growth to remain competitive. Without the consistent stream of incoming visitors to the area, Las Vegas would fail to effectively continue to maintain a strong level of critical and much needed incoming revenue. In the future, as Las Vegas begins to come up against the growth barrier, there will be much difficulty in sustaining the tremendous revenue stream that is typical for the area. And without the ease of generating revenue from the past that Las Vegas has successfully enjoyed for so long, it remains to be seen what the Las Vegas hotels and casinos might focus on as a method of shoring up the sagging economy.
While the question of growth has always plagued Las Vegas, in recent years it has become more and more of an issue as Las Vegas shows and attractions begin to compete for space on the Las Vegas strip and local resources, especially natural resources such as water, begin to run dry.
It remains to be seen how long Las Vegas can support the tremendous amount of growth that is required to maintain the upward moving economy that Las Vegas has become famous for over the years. With the dependence on gaming revenue, Las Vegas has one advantage that most cities do not. As long as visitors pour into the area willing to participate in gambling and other entertainment recreational activities, there is a consistent source of income flooding into the world-famous Las Vegas gambling capital at all times. With this focus on bringing in consistent revenue, Las Vegas has always hedged its bets on the side of strong tourism and trade, good indicators of health in the Las Vegas area. With the consistent effort at advertising and promotion, Las Vegas hotels and establishments have effectively ensured that Las Vegas gets plenty of attention.
